are various sizes of aerial round shells.
Japanese use
the
"Sun"
unit of measurement
to
classify their shells by size.

1sun
= about 3.3 centimeters. There are‚ Qsun
shell (6 centimeters across) to 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
8 sun shell. Next,10 sun=1 shaku.
So 30 centimeters shell=12 inches shell called
Shaku-dama in Japanese.
Most foreign countries adopt inch measurement
units.
There
are shells
ranging from 2
inches
all the way up to
24 inches
in size.
The largest shell ever fired was a 48" in
size. Shells are classified by the inside
diameter of the mortar they should be fired
from.
